Copyright and Licensing

Copyright Ownership

Authors retain copyright in their original scholarly work unless otherwise required by applicable law, funder or institutional requirements, or a separate written agreement.

Publication in the International Journal of Social World (IJSW) does not transfer copyright ownership from the authors to IJSW or its publisher, Scholar Unity.

License to Publish

Upon acceptance and publication, authors grant IJSW and Scholar Unity a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, reproduce, distribute, communicate, display, archive, preserve, and maintain the article as part of the scholarly record.

This license also permits IJSW to maintain the published Version of Record and associated publication metadata, including the DOI and other persistent identifiers, where applicable.

The applicable rights and terms are confirmed through the IJSW Publication and Licensing Agreement.

Creative Commons License

Unless otherwise stated, IJSW articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

CC BY 4.0 permits others to share, reproduce, adapt, and build upon the published work, including for commercial purposes, provided appropriate attribution is given, a link to the license is included, and any changes are indicated.

Text and Data Mining

Where IJSW articles are published under the CC BY 4.0 license, they may also be used for text and data mining, including for research and analytical tools and, where permitted by the applicable license, as training data for computational systems, subject to the license terms and attribution requirements.

Any third-party material excluded from the license remains subject to its own applicable copyright and licensing conditions.

Funder and Institutional Compliance

The CC BY 4.0 license used by IJSW is intended to support common open-access requirements set by research funders and institutions, including those associated with Plan S and similar open-access mandates. Authors should confirm any specific funder requirements before submission.

Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for third-party copyrighted material where required.

Third-party material may include photographs, illustrations, figures, tables, survey instruments, interview extracts, datasets, or other content obtained from external sources. Such material may be subject to separate copyright or licensing terms and is not automatically covered by the CC BY 4.0 license. Appropriate attribution and permission requirements must be observed.

Authors publishing social research involving interviews, surveys, community records, photographs, or other materials relating to individuals should also ensure that applicable permissions, privacy considerations, and confidentiality requirements have been addressed before publication.

Publication and Licensing Agreement

Upon acceptance, the corresponding author is responsible for completing the applicable IJSW Publication and Licensing Agreement and confirming that the necessary rights and author approvals have been obtained.

The agreement establishes the applicable copyright and licensing arrangements for publication.

Version of Record

The final article published by IJSW constitutes the Version of Record (VoR) and represents the official published version of the article.

IJSW may make reasonable technical, formatting, accessibility, metadata, and preservation changes necessary to maintain the integrity and accessibility of the published record. Any substantive correction or other post-publication change should be handled in accordance with the journal's applicable editorial and publication policies.

Governing Law

This policy and the associated Publication and Licensing Agreement are governed by the laws of India.
